about

"The Only Way Out Is Through" comprises 10 ethereal tracks that sway with rhythmic precision from Argentine producer Jin Yerei, marking his debut on his recently created label “Awesome Tapes from Munro”.

Renowned globally for his key role in the Argentinian futuristic folklore scene, Jin Yerei has been at the forefront of pushing the Latin American sound further for the past few years. Born and nurtured in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Jin Yerei seamlessly intertwines the rich musical history of Latin America with a modern viewpoint. His previous works often drew inspiration from the natural elements: The warmth of the sun and the whisper of Patagonian winds set the mood for his prior album “Foráneo Cálido Pasmoso”, with the vast southern lakes and mountains serving as a sonic backdrop.

Now, with "The Only Way Out Is Through", listeners are introduced to ethereal melodies reminiscent of outer space landscapes.

The album's focus track, "Off the Grid", encapsulates Jin Yerei's innovative approach to music, fast african rhythms with the intricate nuances of spacey dub techno. Emotions fluctuate akin to the varying landscapes of Argentina; where one moment might soar with lively violin licks and pulsating rhythms, it soon descends into introspective strings and hypnotic beats.

"Ojos Blancos", accompanied by a video made by Argentine director Rafael Vodovosoff, showcases post-dubstep rhythms seamlessly integrated with futuristic bass, leading to an auditory juxtaposition that's both nostalgic and avant-garde.

Jin Yerei's reverence for the balance of music and feelings is evident in his work. "As Above, So Below" moves with the deliberate pace of time itself, ascending/descending in a simple but complex harmony. "Not Walking Straight", on the other hand, offers an introspective exploration, revealing layers of sonic textures with every listen.

"Sikudelia" stands out as the most dance-oriented track, reflecting the vibrant energy of Jin Yerei's rich musical culture while retaining the unique future bass aesthetic.
As we drift to "Kosmikfleks", the lush scenery of dark rainforests is aurally painted with vivacious guitar lines and Latino rhythms. The ever-evolving surroundings in which Jin Yerei crafts his art become a defining element, breathing life into every note.

"The Only Way Out Is Through" witnesses Jin Yerei's ascension to his most mature and honest sound palette as he masterfully melds natural ambiance with synthesized sounds. Using classic synthesizers juxtaposed with the organic timbres of traditional instruments, this album epitomizes the balance between modernity and tradition.

As with his prior creations on Fértil Discos, Shika Shika, Urban Cosmonaut or Waxploitation, this album celebrates both harmony and tension, between ancient and new nature in dialogue with technology. In this intricate dance, "The Only Way Out Is Through" communicates profound emotions, even in the absence of words.
